Google Chrome 업데이트: 데스크톱 버전 확인·설치·flags 안전 초기화
About → 재시작 → flags → 기본값 복원.
On Windows, Mac, or Linux, getting Google Chrome onto the current stable build starts at chrome://settings/help (or Help → About Google Chrome). After the updater downloads, click Relaunch. To try features that are not on by default, change only the flags you understand at chrome://flags; if something breaks, use Reset all to default instead of wiping your profile.
The query is Chrome update check version desktop flags reset. Chrome ships stable roughly every two weeks; security fixes usually ride that train. Work or school machines may be pinned by policy. Install only from google.com/chrome or the built-in updater — not unofficial repacks.
대상
Anyone who keeps Chrome open for days, is not sure how far behind stable they are, or enabled experimental flags and now sees crashes or blank tabs. Save work in web forms before relaunching; note which flags you toggled so you can revert one by one.

1
Check your Chrome version on desktop
Open chrome://settings/help or the menu ⋮ → Help → About Google Chrome. You will see a four-part version such as 141.0.xxxx.xx (numbers change with your channel). Wait on “Checking for updates…”; if you are current, Chrome says Google Chrome is up to date. Linux packages from a distro may show a suffix — still treat this page as the in-browser truth.
-
2
Install the update and relaunch
When About shows a download, let it finish. Click Relaunch when offered; tabs usually restore if “Continue where you left off” is on. If progress stalls, check network/proxy/VPN, or download the official installer from google.com/chrome to repair the app (bookmarks typically stay). If you see “Updates are disabled by your administrator,” ask IT — do not sideload an older build.

3
Turn on new features safely in chrome://flags
Go to chrome://flags, search for a flag name from Google’s release notes or help articles (names change between trains). Set one item to Enabled, then Relaunch. Change one or two flags at a time. Avoid bulk-enabling unknown flags from random blog posts; experiments can break sign-in sites or crash the browser.

Reset flags and sanity-check after updating
If things go wrong, open chrome://flags and choose Reset all to default, then relaunch. Or set individual flags back to Default. Still broken? Try chrome://settings/reset to restore settings (extensions usually remain). Smoke-test logins and, if you use WebRTC rooms, camera/mic prompts once. Release notes: chromereleases.googleblog.com and support.google.com/chrome.
Reading the version
The leading number tracks the stable train; the third segment often marks security or small fixes. Desktop About numbers are not the same format as mobile store builds.
Auto-update is the default
Consumer Chrome checks in the background. Long sleep or full disks delay patches; opening About forces a check.
Flags are not a secret menu
Google removes or renames flags without notice. Prefer normal Settings for production use; treat flags as short trials.
| Task | Windows / Mac | Linux note |
|---|---|---|
| Version | Help → About Google Chrome | Same; some distros also ship Chrome via package manager |
| Trigger update | Open About and wait | If About shows nothing, check distro docs for apt/dnf |
| Experiments | chrome://flags → Relaunch | Same UI |
| Reset flags | Reset all to default | Same |
브라우저 캔버스와의 관계
Chrome updates change the engine and permission prompts. After a relaunch, a co-browsing site may ask again for mic/camera. See mobile and desktop browser notes, Chrome iOS stable train, or JPEG XL support. To align a quick flow with teammates, open a space from the rtcroom home page.
FAQ
Will updating delete bookmarks or passwords?
A normal About-page update and relaunch does not wipe bookmarks, saved passwords, or extensions. Only explicit “Clear browsing data” or “Reset settings” actions do.
Why do Chrome and Edge version numbers look similar?
Both use Chromium, so major numbers often align, but features and ship dates differ. Check Edge at edge://settings/help; do not install Chrome policy on Edge.
Chrome will not start after flags — now what?
Follow Google’s help for Chrome not opening (safe mode / disable features flags). Reinstall official Chrome while keeping your profile directory as a last resort before creating a new profile.
